BF6 Players Agree: Challenges Are Overly Demanding

The debut of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 was met with widespread acclaim, notably for its flagship multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, live player figures peaked at nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, many players are voicing discontent with several of the title's toughest challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.

Players have started using personalized games made via Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how arduous these challenges have become.

Understanding BF6 Objectives

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. There are four types of assignments, but where most merely grant skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of acquiring a dozen out of forty-one main guns found within the game.

Several of these gated guns might eventually find their way on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry across Reddit

On Reddit, players are understandably expressing their worries about how hard and tedious several of these challenges are. One user highlighted one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This mission is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at very short distances, which isn't typically where you aim to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Extremely Difficult Mission

One more community participant pointed out a further incredibly demanding challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with long-range weapons

This is difficult enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine levels in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and maybe a classic map in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.

The Workaround

Nevertheless, a method exists: the custom game tool. The custom game creator is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.

However, when doing the challenges in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a private match so allies are not impaired?

Future Adjustments

It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are made easier in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, certain gamers simply will never acquire the gated weapons.

At the moment, the community continues to share their thoughts on these demanding in-game tasks, anticipating a more balanced gaming experience in subsequent patches.
